Mindfulness Incursions 

Our Mindfulness incursions introduce students examples of how to slow down, self-regulate, manage your emotions, how to make decisions that feel good and become empathetic. This program empowers children with the tools and knowledge for future growth.

Mindfulness means being fully present and aware of thoughts, feelings, body sensations, and our environment. Studies show that practicing Mindfulness with children and young people improves attention, school behaviour, empathy, and stress management.

By fostering an awareness between mind and body, children learn to manage their emotions and apply rational thinking. The benefits of this program is to enhance focus, emotional regulation and develop their social skills.

This program helps create a a school culture that's built on compassion, curiosity and inclusion. It can also include professional development program and resources for staff to cultivate mindfulness in their classrooms and in daily life.

Integration Across All Incursions

We incorporate mindfulness into every one of our incursions, layering it throughout whatever genre is chosen. This is a core strength of every class. We believe that the mental aspect of dance complements the physical skills and patterns, ensuring a holistic approach to learning and development.

Holistic Teaching Approach

We never teach ‘just’ dance – our signature style always includes emotional and mental health tools and skills that kids can take with them. By integrating mindfulness, we help students enhance their focus, emotional regulation, and social skills, making their dance experience more enriching and impactful.

Different Programs to choose from!

Yogatales

Yogatales, created by Rachael Hevrin, combines yoga with storytelling to teach life lessons through animal-themed yoga poses, fostering play and confidence in children. This exciting new program for children of all age helps children to break down big life lessons, making them more relatable with memorable characters and iconic story archetypes.

Pilates

Using our underlying principles of mindfulness and mindful learning, we guide students through a series of exercises that focus on control, concentration and core strength. Pilates lengthens and stretches all the major muscle groups in the body in a balanced fashion. Pilates classes for ages 5 - 18 focus on control, concentration, and core strength, enhancing flexibility, strength, balance, and body awareness, while promoting mindfulness.

Yoga

Our yoga program integrates mindfulness into the curriculum, helping students manage stress, improve focus, and enhance overall well-being through age-appropriate postures and meditation. It uses both movement and stillness as a way to come into the present moment. Through meditation and mindful movement, we can create a sense of ease and relaxation in the body.

Mindfulness

Regular mindfulness and yoga sessions improve student and teacher well-being, fostering resilience, self-esteem, and a school culture of compassion and inclusion. This program teaches students simple and effective mindfulness practices to manage stress and have better focus (to study and also when playing sport), increasing students flexibility and strength, supporting students to build resilience, self esteem and self compassion. This program is equipping students to meet challenges with greater awareness and calm.

Wawu Ngadiku, "Breathing Spirit"

Introucing traditional meditation and spiritual practices, enhancing relationships and identity through Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander traditions. It begins with an Acknowledgement of Country, an introduction to Aboriginal spiritual beliefs and how relationships with self and others fit into this ancient worldview. Breathing, meditation and mindfulness exercises are accompanied by traditional didgeridoo rhythms, and a vocal exercise component merges chanting with all skills learned, to find harmony through song.

Mindful Dance

Students learn about the artistry of dance as a body moving in space, combining technical and creative contemporary dance with mindfulness. It encourages safe practice and emotional expression to create empowering performances.
We share several different movement-concept scaffolds, which help them to create their own dance style, or choreography. It helps students to learn about the right balance of freedom and guidance. We want them to feel liberated, not overwhelmed.
